Lerab Ling is in Roqueredonde, Occitanie, France and is one of Europe’s leading centres for the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism, founded in southern France in 1991.. Lerab Ling was established in 1991 by Sogyal Rinpoche and developed as the principal retreat centre of the Rigpa network. It was recognized as a religious congregation by the French Ministry of the Interior in 2002.

The resident community includes monastic and lay practitioners and follows study and practice rooted principally in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Certain areas are reserved for retreat participants; visitors should remain on designated routes and follow site rules. The official centre describes Lerab Ling as a community of monastic and lay practitioners studying and practising within the Nyingma lineage, while also serving the wider Rigpa network.

Seasonal public visits are possible, but retreat areas remain restricted. The site therefore combines resident Buddhist practice, international retreat activity and carefully managed visitor access.
