Basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, Saint-Maximin

Basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, Saint-Maximin is in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France and is a major Provençal pilgrimage basilica whose crypt preserves relics venerated in Catholic tradition as those of St. Mary Magdalene.. The crypt and ancient sarcophagi at Saint-Maximin were brought to renewed prominence under Charles II of Anjou in 1279.

Construction of the large Gothic basilica followed from the late 13th century and continued in later campaigns.
