Grand Synagogue of Paris

Grand Synagogue of Paris is in Paris, Île-de-France, France and is a principal historic synagogue of Paris and seat associated with the Chief Rabbinate of France and Paris.. Work on the synagogue began in 1867 under the leadership of Grand Rabbi Lazare Isidore and Gustave de Rothschild, with architect Alfred-Philibert Aldrophe.

The Franco-Prussian War and the Paris Commune interrupted construction. La Victoire was inaugurated in 1874 and opened to the public in 1875. It became one of the central institutions of Parisian Jewish religious life and maintains the Ashkenazi-Alsatian consistorial rite.
